What do we expect from a Land Acquisition System?

16/12/2019

During recent decades, the majority of land seismic surveys have been acquired with cable systems. From the mid-2000, wireless systems started emerging. More recently, numerous models of blind nodes with embedded sensors have arrived on the market.

  • Although QC remains important for most oil & gas operators, it seems that blind acquisitions are more frequently considered in order to reduce operational costs, but at the risk of generating a valueless dataset while the acquisition is well advanced or even completed.

The rationale of equipment is clearly to meet industry expectations, that seem to converge towards higher trace densities and richer low-frequency contents, efficient data management to reduce cycle time and effort on equipment cost to make these high-end datasets affordable.
